The site houses four production plants and focuses on the manufacture of surfactants, materials which are used widely in shampoos, detergents and a variety of industrial processes such as textile manufacture, metal working and oilfields. The site also makes biocides, products which remove bacteria from water, mainly for use in swimming pools.
Solvay Heanor specialises in various technologies for the composites industry. The technology centre is an R&D centre dedicated to formulating new resin systems and developing new products.
Solvay Keighley distributes vacuum bagging consumables to the composites industry (UK and some parts of Northern Europe) and operates a variety of perforation and slitting equipment that converts roll stock consumable products into more usable forms for the customer. Keighley is part of the global Solvay Composite Materials business.
Solvay Manchester specialises in impregnating a range of woven fibres with specifically formulated solvent based resin systems. These products are commonly called prepregs.
Med-Lab supplies a full range of consumable materials for the maintenance, overhaul and repair of aero engines and a range of instruments for the testing petroleum products. Med-Lab also provides an export packing and dangerous goods packing service.
The Oldbury site manufactures a variety of phosphorus based chemicals offering sustainable solutions across a broad range of applications, including; pharmaceuticals, paints, detergents, water treatment chemicals, agriculture and flame retardants.
The site produces Hydrogen Peroxide in a variety of grades for use in a wide variety of applications including pulp and paper bleaching, disinfection, environmental treatment, chemical synthesis and aquaculture. Paramove®, a special grade of hydrogen peroxide used in the fish farming industry, is produced by a GMP manufacturing facility at Warrington.
The Solvay Watford office is Solvay’s Head Office in the UK and houses a number of shared service personnel including from Solvay Business Services (software applications, tax, compliance and risk management etc) and from the Legal team.
